Fees

The Rainbow Playroom currently offers Individual Counseling/ Psychotherapy/ Play/Expressive Therapies for children from 2 years old till teens, as well as adults.

Fees are charged for Intake Sessions, Therapy Sessions, and Written Assessment Reports.

The Intake Session.
Fee:  P3,000

The INTAKE Session is the first time we see you, or in the case of minors, you and your child.  At the intake session, which usually lasts about 1 hour till 1 1/2 hour (sometimes 2 hours), the psychologist first interviews the parent/guardian accompanying the child.  During this interview, the child's details and history are taken, and a clinical interview is conducted to ascertain the parent/guardian's concerns and goals.

After the clinical interview with the parent/guardian, a few minutes (commonly 30 minutes) are spent interacting with the child/teen alone.  This gives the psychologist a chance to establish rapport with the child/teen, make initial observations, see things from the child/teen's perspective, as well as clarify why they are there.

The psychologist then meets with the parent/guardian again, to communicate her initial observations and recommendations.  She may refer the child to another professional, and/or advise that the child is suitable for therapy.

Regular Therapy/ Parent Feedback Sessions.
Fee: P2,000/hour

Regular therapy sessions may consist of :  Counseling, Coaching, Play Therapy, Expressive Therapies, or any combination of these.

For younger children (preschool to grade school), a regular session usually lasts about 45-50 minutes, after which the psychologist may have a short feedback session with the parent/guardian.  (Some children may require 1 1/2 hour sessions for deeper issues.)

For teens or adults, a regular session might last anywhere from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour (on rare occasions, more), depending on the teen/adult's need and personal pacing.

When a parent or guardian is not able to accompany a child/teen regularly to their sessions,  a session exclusively for feedback with parents/guardians is scheduled after every 3-4 therapy sessions of the child.  The fee for a parent feedback session is the same as that for a regular therapy session.

Assessment of Emotional & Social Functioning, with full written report.
Fee:  P10,000

Occasionally, a school or other agency may require a full, in-depth assessment of a child or teen's emotional and social functioning.  Or, parents may request it themselves, in order to have a deeper understanding of their child's in-depth emotional and social functioning.

An in-depth assessment requires a lot of work for the psychologist.  The clinical interview itself typically lasts at least 2 1/2 hours, often 3 hours.  The child/teen's responses are then analyzed closely, then all the responses are integrated to form a wholistic, in-depth view of the child's emotional functioning and deeper issues.  Analysis and writing require a minimum of one whole day's work (most often, more) for the psychologist.  The resulting report is typically 6-10 pages, describing the child/teen's most prevalent feelings, issues, and their way of viewing the world, as well as his/her needs.  These are followed by recommendations.
